The second collection this weekend will benefit the Campaign for Human Development. The second collection next week will be for Debt Reduction for the church.
 
November 15th is the 4th anniversary of our church’s dedication and we will offer an additional Mass that day at 4:00pm to celebrate.
Family Adoration is on Saturday, November 16th at 10:00am. This holy hour is for children of all ages to come to Adoration to experience Our Eucharistic Lord.
 
The Holiday Express (Boutique’s Fall Sale) will be November16th from 10:00am to 6:30pm and Sunday 8:30am to 1:00pm. Bakers are needed!! Handmade gifts and sweets will be sold. On Saturday chili will be available along with homemade jellies and relishes. 
 
Boy Scout Troop 697 is excited to be selling limited edition St. Mary of Sorrows Christmas Historic Church ornaments for their annual fundraiser! Sales will be at the Parish Center front office Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Ornaments will also be available at the Ladies Boutique Christmas Bazaar at the Parish Center on Saturday, November 16, 10am-6:30pm, and Sunday, November 17, 8:30am-1:00pm, and at the Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Dinners and Pancake Breakfasts in December. 
 
Join the Homeschool Group for Family Line Dancing in St. Joseph’s Hall on Tuesday, November 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Bring a finger food or dessert to share.
 
Diaper, wipes and formula will be collected in the foyer next weekend. Martha’s 
 
Table sandwich collection is next weekend until 3:00pm.
 
Season 4, Episode 8 of The Chosen will be shown after 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, November 23rd. Come for dinner, show and fellowship!
 
The Italian Heritage Society meeting is Saturday November 23rd in Farrell Hall from 3:00-5:00pm. Topic: Italian Songs representing 5 Italian cities presented by Elisabetta Lazarte, who directs Italian Language Program of Northern  VA.
 
Safety Reminder: Please be careful in our church parking lot and try not to walk behind the cars but use the designated staircases and cross walks.
 
SAVE THE DATE: The following events are coming up. Please make note on your calendar and watch for further information in our bulletin, on our website or in future Flocknotes!!
  • Thanksgiving Bagel Reception after the 9:15am Mass on Thanksgiving in Farrell Hall.
  • Christmas tree sales start on November 30th at the Historic Church. Shop early for the best selection.
  • Anointing of the sick will be offered on the last Sunday of the month after the 11:30am Mass.
  • Diaper, Wipes and Formula will be collected during the weekend of the fourth Sunday of the month.
  • We want to pray for our active military and if you know of a service person who would like to be on our list, please email their name and branch of the military to Irenea@stmaryofsorrows.org. We will publish the list in November so that we may pray for them.
  • The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation even though it is on Monday. The USCCB has confirmed that the Holy Day is to be observed on Monday, December 9th. We will not have a Vigil Mass on Sunday (still Sunday), but will have 6:30am, 9:15am and 7:00pm on the feast day.
  • Wreaths across America will take place in our Cemetery on December 14th. See the bulletin for details.
  • The Knights are hosting a Children’s Christmas Party on December 14th.

Moving Foward

Wreaths Across America…Remember the Fallen…Honor those that Serve…Teach our children the value of Freedom. On December 14, 2024 at 12:00pm, Wreaths Across America will be at the Historic Church Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran a loud.
You can sponsor a wreath, volunteer to help or see the sign in the narthex to be included. See the bulletin for more details.
