Upcoming News and Announcements - 05/16/25
All adult men of the parish are invited to Men’s Night Out on May 16th at 7:00 at Old Saint Mary’s Hall, which is located over at the Historic Church. Gather for an enjoyable evening of fraternity, brotherhood, and camaraderie with your fellow men.



Pancake Breakfast will be offered on Sunday, May 18th after the 7:30am and 9:30am Masses in Farrell Hall.

We will have our regular monthly collection for debt reduction next weekend. Your donation to our monthly mortgage payment is greatly appreciated. We have a monthly payment of over $55,000.
Everyone is invited to a May Crowning and Living Rosary at the Historic Church Grotto on Friday, May 23rd at 5:00pm with a reception to follow in the Old Hall. Please bring something to share.
All parishioners are invited to join the Father Corby Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in observing Memorial Day weekend by assisting in the placement of flags on all the St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Cemetery graves on Saturday, May 24th at 9:00 a.m.
On Monday, May 26th, all are invited to participate in the annual St. Mary of Sorrows Memorial Day Mass, Reception and Blessing of the Graves, hosted by the Father Corby Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Mass will be celebrated in the main Church at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by a reception hosted by the Hibernians in Farrell Hall. At noon, there will be a Blessing of the Graves procession in the Historic Church Cemetery.
SAVE THE DATE: The following events are coming up. Please make note on your calendar and watch for further information in our bulletin, on our website or in future Flocknotes!!
Scheduled Monthly Events:
- All-day and all-night Adoration is available every First Friday with Saturday devotions on the First Saturdays of the month.
- Young Adults gather for coffee and breakfast the first Sunday of the month after the 9:30am Mass every month. Next coffee date is June 1, 2025.
- Family Adoration is offered every third Saturday of the month starting at 10:00am in the new church. Family Adoration will be offered on Saturday, May 17th.
- Diaper, Wipes and Formula will be collected during the weekend of the fourth Sunday of the month and donations can be left in the foyer of the Parish Center. Next collection is on May 25th.
- Food Pantry donation bags are usually given out the first weekend of the month with the collection through the second Sunday at 1:00pm. Donations can be left in the foyer.
- Martha’s Table Sandwich Collection is the fourth Sunday of the month with sandwiches dropped off in the back of Farrell Hall from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The next collection will be the weekend of May 25th.
Upcoming Events:
- St. Mary of Sorrows is hosting a Morning of Reflection for Parents and Grandparents who have lost a child or grandchild on May 31st. The morning starts with Mass at 9:15am followed by speakers Deacon Dave Maurer and Betsy Leon. For registration information contact www.arlingtondiocese.org/
parentsmass. Or see this week’s bulletin. - Start saving your donations for the Parish Yard Sale coming up on June 13-15, 2025. The collection starts on June 8th.
- Amigos en Cristo + Friends in Christ invites parishioners to a traditional Mexican dinner and desert with a silent auction on June 28th at 6:00pm in Farrell Hall. More information and sign-up to come.
- Vacation Bible School is back and will be an exploration with the Vatican Express. The dates are July 28th -August 1st. Look for more information to come but save the date!
