A Planning Meeting for the Labor Day Picnic has been set up for Thursday, June 18th at 7:00pm in Farrell Hall. Everyone is invited!! Come and bring your ideas! See the section below for the positions needed for the picnic.All Are Welcome – join the Arlington Diocese Cursillo community and fellow parishioners for a Multi-Parish Ultreya onFriday, June 19, 7:00 pm at St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Church Hall. Dinner is potluck. As always – and in Cursillo style – please bring food and drinks to share. Friday, June 19th is a federal holiday. The front office of the Parish Center will be closed but we will have Adoration in the Chapel.
The second collection next weekend will benefit The Holy Father Peter’s Pence.Focus Missionary, Lily Bernero, will be here the weekend of June 20/21 to talk about her experiences with college students.

Scheduled Monthly Events:
- All-day Adoration is in the Parish Center Chapel from 7:00am until 7:00pm and on First Friday, all-night Adoration from 7:00pm is available in the church every First Friday with Saturday devotions on the First Saturdays of the month.
- Young Adults gather for coffee and breakfast the first Sunday of the month after the 9:30am Mass every month.
- Luminaries of Holy Mary will meet on the first Monday of the month in the Conference Room from 5:00pm to 6:30pm to discuss Fatima and pray the Rosary.
- Patricians meet monthly on the first Monday of the month at 7:00pm in Farrell Hall to discuss Catholic topics.
- Family Adoration is normally offered every third Saturday of the month starting at 10:00am in the new church. No Family Adoration from June through August.
- Spaghetti Dinner and Pancake Breakfast are usually the second weekend of the month. Have a great dinner after the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday. Pancake Breakfast is served after the 7:30am and 9:30am Masses. The Knights are taking a Pancake Breakfast and Spaghetti Dinner break for the Summer. They will be back in September.
- Diapers, Wipes and Formula will be collected during the weekend of the fourth Sunday of the month and donations can be left in the foyer of the Parish Center.
- The second collection on the third Sunday of the month is for debt reduction. This weekend is the second collection to help with our mortgage payment.
- Food Pantry donation bags are usually given out the first weekend of the month with the collection through the second Sunday at 1:00pm.
- Martha’s Table 4th Sunday Sandwich Collection will be on the fourth Sunday, only from 1-3 PM.Drop off at the back of Farrell Hall (Door 4). Full details at tinyurl.com/MTSandwiches.
Upcoming Events:
Movie Night will be held at 6:00pm on June 27th. The Chosen, season 5, Episode 8, the Garden of Gethsemane. Dinner before the show and conversation after!! Bring a friend!
The Knight are having a KOVAR collection outside the church, the weekend of June 27/28. Donations will benefit Virginians with intellectual disabilities.
On July 4th 2026, at 2:50pm, listen for church bells and other bells being rung at churches, cathedrals, and historical sites throughout our communities. As in 1876 and 1976, St Mary’s continues the tradition of ringing our bell at auspicious events. The bell will toll 13 times in recognition of our 13 original colonies. The Nation has called for this act as we celebrate our patriotism and our unity throughout the land. Additional information may be found online at Bell Ringing for America’s 250th | National Bell Festival.

Labor Day Picnic
Summer has just begun, and it is not too early to start the Labor Day Picnic Planning. The St Mary’s Picnic Team is in need of Picnic Teams Coordinators. - Recruits and schedules volunteers for all committees
- Ensures adequate staffing during setup, operations, and cleanup
- Serves as the central point of contact for volunteer support

- Solicits sponsors and financial supporters for the event
- Maintains sponsor relationships and recognition opportunities
- Tracks sponsorship commitments and contributions

- Coordinates food supplies, vendors, and kitchen volunteers
- Ensures food safety and sanitation standards are maintained

- Coordinate event setup, including tents, tables, chairs, signage, electrical connections, and activity areas.
- Lead event takedown and ensure all rented equipment, supplies, and materials are properly returned or stored.
- Organize cleanup crews before, during, and after the event to ensure church grounds are restored to their original condition.

- Contact and organize vendors who may be interested in selling products at the picnic
