The Mass settings are changing for Advent. The Mass setting can be found on the inside cover of the Source and Summit missal.
Calendars are available in the narthex. Due to limited quantities, please take one per family.
The Boutique ladies have a limited supply of Advent candles and wreaths available for sale. If you are interested, call or text Lou at 571-338-4047 or at home 703-426-8092 to arrange pick up.
Deacon Nick is having an Advent series in St. Joseph’s Hall at 7:00pm for the Mondays in December. Join him as we prepare to encounter Christ through the parables. December 9th, he will speak on “The Servants and the Talents”.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation. The USCCB has confirmed that the Holy Day is to be observed on Monday, December 9th. We will not have a Vigil Mass on Sunday (still Sunday), but will have 5:15am, 6:30am, 9:15am and 7:00pm on the feast day. An additional Mass at 12:00pm will also be offered for the feast day.
Mass will be celebrated in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, December 12th at 7:00pm. Reception to follow in Farrell Hall.
Wreaths across America will take place in our Cemetery on December 14th at the Historic Church. See the bulletin for details.
The Knights are hosting a Children’s Christmas Party on December 14th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm in Farrell Hall.
The Knights will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Pancake Breakfast next weekend. Along with great food and fellowship, the Boy Scouts will be selling Historic Church ornaments and the Fil-Am group will be selling wreaths, bows, etc.
The second collection this weekend will benefit the Catholic Charities Christmas Collection. The second collection next weekend will help defray the cost of our mortgage for the church.
Contributing to the flowers for Christmas helps to defray the cost of the flowers and names will be collected for the Floral Memorial for the intention of the 9:30am Christmas Day Mass. Envelopes are in the narthex.
Advent Penance Service will be offered on Monday, December 16th at 4:00pm and Tuesday, December 17th at 7:00pm in the church. Along with our priests, there will be Dominican priests coming to hear your confession.
Boy Scout Troop 697 is excited to be selling limited edition St. Mary of Sorrows Christmas Historic Church ornaments for their annual fundraiser! Sales will be this Sunday at the Parish Center from 8:30am-1:00pm, or at the Parish Front Office Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Ornaments will also be available at the Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Dinners and Pancake Breakfasts in December.
Safety Reminder: Please be careful in our church parking lot and try not to walk behind the cars but use the designated staircases and cross walks.

- Family Adoration will be on Saturday, December 21st. Bring your children for Advent preparation with Our Lord in the Eucharist.
- Christmas decorating will start at 12:00pm on December 21st (note the time change).
- Martha’s Table 4th Sunday Sandwich Collection is December 22, 1:00pm-3:00pmat the back door of Farrell Hall. Sign up to participate and see full details at tinyurl.com/MTSandwiches.
- Simbang Gabi will be celebrated at St. Mary’s on Thursday, December 19th at 7:00pm followed by refreshments outside church.

December 9th will bring a talk on “The Servants and the Talents”, with December 16th focusing on “The Rich Man and Lazarus”. The talks will conclude on December 23rd with a discussion of Matthew 25.
- Anointing of the sick will be offered on the last Sunday of the month after the 11:30am Mass.
- Diaper, Wipes and Formula will be collected during the weekend of the fourth Sunday of the month.

Moving Foward
For your preparation…Christmas and Christmas week Mass schedules are as follows:
- On Christmas Eve day, we will have our regular daytime Masses at 6:30am and 9:15am for Advent.
- Christmas Eve Vigil Masses will be at 4:30pm and 6:30pm with Midnight Mass also offered.
- Christmas Day Masses will be at 5:30am (for First Responders/Healthcare Workers), 7:30am, 9:30am, and 11:30am. No 5:00pm Mass.
- Christmas week will have the regular daytime Masses.
- Solemnity of Holy Mary, Mother of God, is a Holy Day of Obligation on January 1st. We will have Vigil Masses on December 31st at 5:00pm and Midnight. Holy Day Masses will be offered at 7:30am, 9:30am and 11:30am.
