In honor of the 800th anniversary of St. Francis, Dr. Steve Weidenkopf will present a talk on St. Francis. He will be here on Thursday, March 12th at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph Hall.

“St. Francis is commonly portrayed as a simple, peaceful friar who preached to animals and certainly never would have condoned the Crusades. But… are these views historically accurate? Join Professor Steve Weidenkopf for an engaging presentation on St. Francis and the Crusades and learn the real story of the friar from Assisi and the Crusading movement.”
About the speaker:
Dr. Steve Weidenkopf is an adjunct professor of Church history at the Christendom College Graduate School of Theology, a published author on the Crusades and the Middle Ages, and a longtime presenter for Ascension’s Epic Church history series. He is also a member of the Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin East.
